Can I rent your props for an event OR party?

We are NOT an event rental company. Many of our items are not food safe for consumption and should not be used to serve others. We also do not carry large multiples of props.

For events local to LA, we recommend Soirée8, Table Method, theARKrentals, and Casa de Perrin.

what can i use your props for?

Our props are featured in cookbooks, restaurant billboards, print advertisements, recipe blogs, food publications, short films, commercials, and more! Our clients include food and beverage stylists, product photographers, recipe developers, food and lifestyle bloggers, set designers, and art directors, just to name a few!

CAN I SHOOT HERE too?

We have our Kitchen Studio and our Little Studio available to rent for photoshoots!

What are your hours?

The prop house is open Monday – Friday from 9am - 5pm.

The photo studio is available to rent from 8am - 6pm seven days a week, pending staffing availability.

What’s the deal with parking? Where’s your entrance?

Just north of our building is an alleyway, on the east side of Naomi Street. Head down the alley and turn the corner - you’ll see we have a private parking lot behind the black metal and wood fence! Yay! Click here to view our map.

HOW EARLY CAN I PUT A HOLD ON PROPS AND SURFACES BEFORE PICKING UP?

We allow holds for up to 5 business days for off-site prop and surface rentals.

Studio renters may pull props and surfaces 2 business days prior to their shoot date.

Items requested for extended holds may be subject to additional fees.

What is your Rental Period?

Our rental period is 5 business days INCLUDING the day of pick up. We don’t count weekends :)

  • Pick Up: Monday - Due Back: Friday

  • Pick Up: Tuesday - Due Back: Monday

  • Pick Up: Wednesday - Due Back: Tuesday

  • Pick Up: Thursday - Due Back: Wednesday

  • Pick Up: Friday - Due Back: Thursday

Additional business days are priced at 20% of the order total. You must confirm your extended days with an employee before pick up - keeping props and surfaces past your due date without confirming with us first will incur more expensive daily late fees! Do you require Insurance or a Deposit for prop rentals?

Nope!

Do you offer discounts ON PROP AND SURFACE RENTALS?

Clients booking the Kitchen Studio and/or the Little Studio at Plate & Patina receive 30% off prop and surface rentals! Those props can be used and kept in the studio for up to 5 shoot days. An unlimited prop and surface package is available to studio renters for $800/day.

Clients pulling props and surfaces for a project shooting at Saltworth Studio in Atwater Village receive a 10% discount on prop and surface rentals at Plate & Patina!

Do you offer discounts ON STUDIO RENTALS?

Clients booking the Kitchen Studio and the Little Studio together in tandem will receive a studio suite discount.

Oh no! I Broke/ Lost Something!! What do I do?

Look, shit happens, just let us know! For a damaged prop/surface, the item must be returned with the order, no matter the condition. If it is not physically possible to return the pieces, we require photographic evidence of the damage.

Trades for similar objects may be considered and will be approved on a case-by-case basis. Alternatively, we will charge a Loss & Damage fee or have you purchase a replacement of our choosing. As most of our inventory is handmade or vintage, our L&D fees start at 20x the rental price on average.

If props or surfaces are missing on the order’s return date, 50% of the initial rental price of the item will be charged each subsequent day for the first 5 days, then 100% of the rental price for each day after that, until the item is returned or confirmed lost.

Do you ship or deliver items?

We can ship smalls anywhere in the contiguous United States on a case-by-case basis. Additional rental weeks may have to be charged to the order to cover travel time.

We do not offer local delivery, but we can provide a contact sheet of prop assistants for you to reach out to and hire for prep day help.

Will you buy my props?

E-mail Courtenay, our business owner, at courtenay@plateandpatina.com – she has final say on all acquisitions. Please include photos of the props and a pricing line sheet.

Are you ALWAYS CLOSED on Holidays?

Sometimes we are, sometimes we aren’t! Please check our Instagram for more information - we will always post about upcoming holidays & do our best to update our Google Business Profile and our website.
